F I R S T   D A Y

With four wheel drive jeep to the Chuchu Pass (4.400 meter/14.432 ft.). Great views to Ancohuma (6.427 meter/21.080 ft.), Illampu (6.368 meter/20.887 ft.), Pico Norte (6.040 meter/19.811 ft.).

 
 
 
 
Impression close to the village of Ancohuma. We drive down to the mountain farmers village of Ancohuma (3.700 meter/12.136 ft.). Introduction of the mule drivers and packing of the mules and descent to Sumata, a place with a few adobe houses.
 
 
     
 

S E C O N D   D A Y

We follow the good preserved Inca trail (Camino del Oro or golddiggers trail) which is going up and down the whole day. It is getting constantly warmer and greener because the main direction of the hike is down. We set up camp near the small gold mine Ocara.

T H I R D   D A Y

We follow the trail like the day before and get further down. Parts of the trail lead through open grassland and parts through bamboo thicket. Exotic impressions.

 
 
 
 
Walking down to the dense vegatation into a tropic landscape. Late in the afternoon we reach the wildwest goldmine Chussi which is situated at a beautiful plateau high above the Tipuani river.
 
 
 
 
Girl from Chussi. We can take a refreshing shower under a natural waterfall and eat a golddiggers dinner in a small restaurant. There is no accomodation and so we spend another night in the tent.
 
 
     
 

F O U R T H   D A Y

A jeep ride over an adventurous jungle pist, passing big gold mines, leads to the miners capital of Guanay. Accomodation and a charming tropical scenery at the market place, water melons, tropical beauties.

 
 
     
 

F I F T H   D A Y

By motor canoe down the rapids of rio Kaaka until we reach the capital of the Province Alto Beni, Rurrenabaque. On our way we see the rainforest, birds, jungle animals.

 
 
     
 

S I X T H   D A Y

By four wheel drive jeep to Reyes and from there we take a motor canoe to the river Yacuma. Here we can watch alligators, monkeys, sweet water dolphins, capiwaras, turtles and many more. A great day for animal lovers.

S E V E N T H   D A Y

Animal watching like the day before and return to Rurrenabaque.

 
 
     
 

E I G H T   D A Y

With a propeller airplane we fly back to La Paz. What a change! End of the trip.
